One Watch, Many Hands: Dial, Strap and Lacquer Box

A HANOISON watch is not only an engraved dial fitted to a case. Different artisans work on the engraved dial, handmade strap and lacquer presentation box. Each part brings a different surface to the finished piece: cut metal, scaled leather and layered lacquer.

The dial carries the central composition

Metal engraving gives the watch its most immediate visual subject. Across the collection, that may be foliate ornament, a celestial arrangement or a figurative scene. The cuts establish line, contrast and depth within the small space beneath the hands and crystal.

The dial is therefore the visual centre, but it is not asked to stand alone. HANOISON's made-to-order process treats the strap and presentation box as parts of the same story rather than as generic additions selected at the end.

The strap adds another form of hand work

HANOISON straps are made from genuine alligator leather. The belly section is selected for its fine, balanced scales and naturally soft texture, then sewn by hand using the traditional saddle-stitch technique.

Leather does not remain visually static. Contact with light, warmth and the wrist gradually deepens its colour, so the strap develops its own character through use. That change belongs to the material rather than to the engraved surface of the dial.

The lacquer box begins the presentation

The presentation boxes are finished by hand in Hạ Thái, Hanoi. Layers of hand-applied lacquer create natural surface variations, and the HANOISON emblem is stamped in gold foil.

The box protects and presents the watch, but its role is also compositional. Its finish establishes the first material encounter with the piece before the dial or strap is handled.

Different skills, one completed piece

What makes these parts belong together? HANOISON aligns their story, material tone and level of finishing, then reviews the assembled order before dispatch. Finishing, assembly condition, strap fit, packaging and order details all form part of that final check.

The HANOISON watch collection begins with the dial, but the completed experience is the work of many hands.
